On 09/03/2026 at approximately 9:30pm, Deputies with Granville County Sheriff's Office were conducting saturation patrols in Northern Granville County in the Stovall, Bullock and Grassy Creek communities, GCSO deputies observed a blue Chrysler Town and Country van traveling through the Town of Stovall without and headlights or taillights activated. Deputies attempted to conduct a vehicle stop but the driver failed to stop for several miles. The driver continued to travel south on US Hwy 15 before eventually coming to a stop. A registration check on the vehicle was returned as stolen out of Vance County.

The driver, Drew Joshua Keener of Ohio was taken into custody. Henderson Police Department reported that the vehicle was forcibly stolen earlier in the day by a suspect armed with a fi***rm. During the search of the vehicle, deputies located a realistic looking fi***rm under the driver's seat of the vehicle believed to be used in the commission of the crime. Mr. Keener was charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, careless and reckless driving, misdemeanor fleeing to elude, and operating a motor vehicle without a license. His bond in Granville County was set at $40,000.

Deputies coordinated with Henderson Police Department and served Vance County warrants for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, and felony larceny. For the Vance County charges, Mr. Keener is being held without bond. Mr. Keener is currently being held in the Granville County Detention Facility and is awaiting trial.
