Miami University Police Department (Ohio) We are a full service police department serving the Miami University Community. We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We are located in the Ditmer Parking Lot, on SR73 across the street from the Horse Stables. We have a full time staff of 23 sworn police officers. We enforce local and state laws, provide safety and security to the Miami community, as well as offer educational programs through our Community Relations Team. Today, we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and remember the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger while others ran to safety.

We remember the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their bravery, service, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

K-9 LEO and Officer Hibbard teamed up with EOD K-9 teams from throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia to assist Canton Police Department with explosive detection duties during the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week festivities. Teams worked various venues and events to ensure the safety of more than 100,000 visitors during the multi-day event.

As Miami celebrates commencement today, we would like to acknowledge our two interns during this year.

Olivia Shaferly is graduating with a degree in psychology and biology, with a minor in criminology. She will be moving on to graduate school next.

Patrick Wills is a member of the Miami cross country and track teams. He will be graduating with a degree in political science and plans to move abroad to start his career.
