Five days. Five town halls. Five chances to hear directly from Mississippians.

We’re taking the Where’s Cindy? Tour 🔎 across the state because voters deserve a senator who will show up, answer tough questions and listen.

I look forward to seeing y’all on the road! RSVP here ➡️ bit.ly/WheresCindy

It was the 31st of July, another hot humid day in a nation besieged by MAGA-backed Project 2025ers bent on destroying our public resources and services and inflicting as much cruelty on our country's people as possible. It was time for another Fed Up Friday. So patriotic Americans who know our country's history well and respect its foundational principles went to the time and trouble to show up and speak out again to express, at least briefly, how FED UP we are with the direction our government is going.

If you're also concerned about the steady, day-by-day assault on our rights, our national parks, our institutions, the integrity of our elections, and so much more, and are likewise FED UP, join us Noon to 12:30 each Friday in front of the Federal Building in Oxford. Bring your own sign or borrow from our growing collection.

(And if somehow you received this post as a direct message and don't appreciate it, please understand that we did not choose to DM you. Some people have mysteriously received some of our Fed Up Friday posts via direct message recently, and we are trying to determine how that has happened and turn the DMs off.)

Another good turnout this past Friday, July 24, with participants of all ages, to express how FED UP we are with the grave threats the current administration presents to our democratic republic and "we the people."

If you're also fed up, join us! We'll be in front of the Federal Building in Oxford, Miss. (on Jackson Ave across from St. Peter's Episcopal Church) from 12 Noon to 12:30 every Friday until at least the midterm election on Nov. 3rd.

(And if somehow you receive this post as a direct message and don't appreciate it, please understand that we did not choose to DM you. Several folks showed up for Fed Up Friday on July 17 despite the hot summer sun. Join us in front of the Federal Building in Oxford (across Jackson Ave from St. Peter's Episcopal Church) any Friday, Noon to 12:30, until at least the mid-term election in November. Bring your own sign or borrow from the growing collection.

(The "Voter Suppression is UN-AMERICAN" sign prompted a spirited debate with a young passerby. If you don't agree with us, civil questions and discussions are always welcome.)

Great community event this weekend sponsored by the Abbeville Gordon Community Center, and ALL are invited. (Lafayette Dems are not a sponsor.)

From the sponsor:
‘What is this Forum about? This Forum is composed of a panel made up of intergenerational member discussing Where We Have Been? Where Are We Now? and Where Are We Going? The audience is invited to add to the conversation with their comments and questions.

You may ask "why is the Gordon Center sponsoring this Forum?" I'm sure we are all aware of what is going on in this country now! But, what some of us don't know is this administration is taking its playbook from history. Let's explore where they're coming from and what we need to do to combat what is happening. We'll leave with a plan of action. We will be proactive not reactive to their antics.

Everyone is invited! There will be a Food Trucks there for you to eat delicious food and support your local small businesses.

Come on out and contribute in conversation.

Please encourage young people to also attend!’

The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

Mississippi, the most religious state in America, said no (again!) to $38 million from the federal government to feed 320,000 children this summer who rely on free meals during the school year. We’re better than this. Aren’t we?
