A quick Shout-out to some of our crew. Yesterday, five members joined up for the stair climb in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks. These stair climbs took place around the world. There were 110 stories in the Twin Towers. Hundreds of firefighters scaled those stairs in an effort to save as many lives as possible, ultimately sacrificing their own lives in this heroic act. The towers had over 2,000 steps from the ground to the top. Firefighters Wagner, Smith, Sparks, Reynolds, and Holt joined up to climb 2,080 steps in honor of that fateful day.
So why are we sharing this? First, we are very proud of the work our members do every day. Second, none of these firefighters were born yet; honoring history before their birth shows we will never forget. Third, among these great firefighters, one had just completed the climb in Cincinnati in the morning and did it again here in Oxford. Another just gave birth about a month ago, another is heavily focused on full-time PA school. Regardless, they all said, “We’re doing this”
The dedication of these members, on and off duty, really makes us proud to call ourselves The Oxford Fire Department. Strong work brother and sisters!
