🔴🚒 National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend 🚒🔴

Today, on this final day of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, the Lafayette County Fire Department pauses to honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to their communities.

Across the nation this weekend, 204 firefighters are being added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland — 97 lost in 2025 alone, and 107 from previous years. Each name represents a family forever changed, a department forever marked, and a community forever grateful.

At noon today, fire departments across America will sound their sirens simultaneously in tribute. The American flag flies at half-staff at all federal buildings in their honor.

To our brothers and sisters who have made the ultimate sacrifice — we will never forget.
To the families of our fallen heroes — we stand with you. 🌹

Today, our students from the Lafayette Career and Technical Center traveled to the MS State Fire Academy to complete their skills after a year-long journey. Through hard work, dedication, and determination, they have earned their Mississippi Certified Firefighter Level I certification.

In addition, they successfully completed Firefighter Operations, along with ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 courses, as well as earning their CPR certification.

We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and are excited to officially welcome them to the department. Keep up the hard work and dedication!
