Alright. It's official. The City of Oxford if now a PTV/ Golf Cart Community. This will allow our residence to get out and drive their registered PTV/ golf carts throughout the city on APPROVED roadways.

Here is the way to get your PTV/ golf cart registered:
Get an application, pay $15, follow the guide lines for the proper equipment and insurance to make it legal for the city streets. Our officers will come to your house and inspect your PTV/ golf cart and will inform you if your PTV/ golf cart passed all the requirements necessary. If so, you get the permit ( 2 decal stickers) to be placed on the front and rear of your PTV/golf cart.

We would love for you to come out and join us on Saturday, June 27, 2026 between 11am-2pm as our City celebrates our Country (250 years) Independence (our July 4th festival). We will not be hosting the traditional parade this year, but we are anticipating a large turn-out for this event. We look forward to seeing our community pour out for this. If you the Oxford Police (OPD), stop and say hello, we would love to engage in a conversation with you.

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, officers responded to a report of a hit-n-run involving two vehicles. The vehicle that fled the scene of the accident was stopped outside the city limits. The driver of the fleeing vehicle was charged with Hit and Run, Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act (VGCSA) with intent to distribute, Possession of a firearm during a commission of a crime and Suspended Drivers License. We want our community to know:

-Reckless conduct will not be tolerated
-We will act swiftly and work in partnership with surrounding agencies when public safety is at risk
-Incidents like this are taken seriously and will be investigated thoroughly

We appreciate our community and the continued partnership with our neighboring agencies in helping keeping Oxford safe.
