Want to know what almost 600 pounds of school supplies looks like?

This photo only shows about 1/3 of what we rescued this week (over 1800 pounds in total)! Through our School Supply Recycling Program with the Adams-Clermont Solid Waste District, we collected new and used supplies from 13 Clermont County schools during end of year clean-outs. We were able to take almost 1200 pounds of perfectly good supplies to our partners at CNE Cares and NEST Community Learning Center that will be used to help families in need. The rest will be recycled or taken to specialty recycling and reuse facilities.

Parents and teachers, we always encourage thinking twice before school supply shopping about what your students actually need. Consider what items you have from last year that could be reused (which saves you money too!).

A huge thank you to the amazing teachers who help us coordinate! We also want to thank our awesome volunteers who help us sort (and, as a fun fact, tested over 12,000 markers)!

If you are interested in donating or receiving supplies, contact Elea at [email protected]

We love field trip days! 🐟

This spring, we’ve had a great time taking students out into our local rivers as they searched for fish and macroinvertebrates, tested water quality, and evaluated habitat health. These hands-on experiences are far more impactful as students are able to learn directly from the environment around them.

This year, thanks to an Ohio Environmental Education Fund grant through the Ohio EPA, we were also able to purchase waders and boots so students can safely get right into the stream and fully immerse themselves in water education.

Clermont Soil & Water offers these field experiences for FREE to any K-12 classes or community groups. If you're interested in setting up a field trip, reach out to Elea at [email protected]
