It’s a new fiscal year from the Greater Owensboro Young Republicans with lots to do and learn before November. Our 1st meeting for the new year will be on August 28th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the back room of The Crème Coffee House 109 E 2nd St, Owensboro . Meeting attendees receive 10% off of their purchases for the duration of the meeting. Please find the meeting agenda below:

a. Daviess County Republican Party Executive Committee
b. Daviess County Republican Women's Club
c. Kentucky Young Republican Convention

5) Discussion: Leadership positions available in GOYR to anyone 18-40
6) Discussion: Voting: Ms. Jane Lambert, Daviess Co Republican Party Register will be our special guest to answer all the questions you have about voting but were always afraid to ask such as:
a. How to register to vote?
b. How to change your affiliation?
c. How to find your precinct?
d. What happens when I walk in the door to vote?
e. Do I need identification at the polling center?
f. What if I am a college student from another state?
g. What if I have just moved or am moving to Kentucky or one of the counties locally?
h. What is an absentee ballot?
i. Why is it important to vote?

This is an exciting time for Republicans in Kentucky and being a part of the oldest political youth organization in the United States, the young republicans have the ability to reach voters with a voice unlike any other age group. Here is an article for you Young Republicans. I can empathize with this article from our own experience. When there are fun activities like Christmas Parties, Debate Parties, Picnics, and Lincoln Day Dinners, they are heavily attended. But in between events at our meetings, it is very hard to get people to attend. Which sucks because those meetings are needed to pull those kind of events.
I would be slow to condemn leadership but I would like to see if there are people interested in taking more of a leadership role in our group, especially if you think I am doing a bad job.

Anyone reading and is interested in helping us reach out to our community, contact me (Alex Jordan) and then come to our Yearly Fiscal Meeting in June. We will be electing new officers and deciding how the club will proceed for the rest of the 2014 Election.

Suzanne Miles for KY State Representative: 3,548 (50.8%)
Kim Humphries: 3,436 (49.2%)

Suzanne won 72% of the vote in Daviess County.
