The Daviess and McLean County Conservation Districts will be accepting resumes for a full time Soil Conservation Technician. The position will be headquartered in the Owensboro USDA Service Center. A strong background in agriculture or related field is required. Must possess basic computer skills.Duties include, but not limited to working in the field, providing technical assistance to landowners regarding federal, state and local conservation programs. Resumes can be mailed to the Daviess County Conservation District at 3100 Alvey Park Drive West, Owensboro, KY 43368 or McLean County Conservation District at 300 State Route 81 N, Calhoun, KY 42327.

The Daviess County Conservation District will be accepting resumes for a full time Administrative Secretary. The position will be in the Owensboro USDA Service Center. Must possess basic computer skills with QuickBook knowledge. Duties include receptionist to District and NRCS office, plan meetings, maintain financial records along with monthly reports, coordinate district programs. Salary will be $13-$15 per hour based on experience. Benefits include 2 weeks vacation and sick days but no other benefits. We are sad to miss the Take a Kid Fishing event typically held this weekend each year. As it is Free Fishing Weekend June 6-7, you do not need a license to fish in Kentucky waters. This week’s 4-H kit includes bait, sinkers, bobber, hooks, stringer, and info for knot tying, casting and fish identification, all you need is your fishing pole and the family for a fun day outdoors! Thirty kits are available to pick up at the Extension Office today!

Due to the COVID-19 and practicing social distancing properly we have decided to cancel the Tree Give Away that was scheduled for Thursday, April 16th. We look forward to doing it again next year!

We will be having our Annual Free Tree Seedling Give Away on Thursday, April 16th! However due to the COVID -19 it will be a drive thru service. You will not be allowed to get out of your vehicles. It will be first come first serve until supplies last. There will be 10 seedlings limit per person. Seedlings available are Bald Cypress, White Pine, Flowering Dogwood, Yellow Poplar, Shumard Oak, Pecan, White Oak, Paw Paw & Grey Dogwood. If you could please come prepared and know what 10 seedlings you would like.
