Please join us in welcoming Boomer, DCSO's first ever "bomb dog!" Boomer is a one-and-a-half-year-old German Short Haired Pointer and along with his handler, Deputy Trent Smith, recently completed the American Working Dog Association's Explosive Ordinance Detection Course at the Knox County Sheriff's K9 Academy in Galesburg, Illinois. Boomer will help investigate suspicious packages, bomb threats, and can also search venues where large crowds are expected keeping crowds safe from explosive threats. Boomer was purchased using funds seized from drug traffickers. Congratulations, Deputy Smith and Boomer!
