Absentee Voting begins today for the citywide tax referendum election. Qualified electors residing within the corporate limits of the City of Owens Cross Roads will vote on whether the City should levy an additional 3-mill ad valorem tax—equal to $0.30 per $100 of assessed value—on taxable property located within the City.
Revenue generated by the proposed tax would be dedicated exclusively to fire protection services. If approved by the voters, the additional tax will take effect in Fiscal Year 2027 and remain in effect through Fiscal Year 2033.

The Owens Cross Roads City Council provides an opportunity for City residents to participate at City Council meetings when a "Request for Public Comment Form" is submitted or requests are made before the beginning of the council meeting.
The next regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd at 6:00 PM.
If you wish to address the Council, please remember that you should submit a completed "Request for Public Comment" form to the City Clerk by noon on Friday, September 18th or arrive before 6 pm to sign up with the City Clerk. The form is attached here, can be found on the city website owenscrossroadsal.gov, or may be picked up at City Hall.

Beau’s Law goes into effect on October 1st 2026. This law deals with the humane treatment of dogs. The law includes some common sense steps to safely and humanely secure your dogs. They deserve our care!

Violations of the law in the city limits will be investigated by our department. If a violation is found, those cases will go before municipal court.

Remembering September 11, 2001

This morning at 7:30 a.m., members of the Owens Cross Roads Fire and Rescue Department, Owens Cross Roads Police Department, state and city leaders, City employees, and several Owens Cross Roads citizens gathered at City Hall to remember those who lost their lives 25 years ago today.

The ceremony began with the sounding of the fire truck and police vehicle sirens and horns, followed by the lowering of the flags, a time of prayer led by Reverend Daniela Peele, Pastor of Cross Roads Church, and a moment of silence to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Mayor Craig delivered the closing statement, reminding us of the importance of remembering the sacrifices made that day and the courage, unity, and service that followed.

A special thank you to our first responders and City employees who planned and organized this very special ceremony. Your dedication to honoring the fallen and bringing our community together is deeply appreciated.

We are grateful to everyone who gathered to honor the fallen and reflect on the significance of this day. May we never forget the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who answered the call to serve.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
