FUNBRELLA STATUS UPDATE
We wanted to give everyone an update regarding the Funbrellas at River Springs Water Park.
At the end of last summer, all of the Funbrellas were damaged during a storm. During the offseason, the City of Owatonna submitted a disaster claim to the state for the Funbrellas along with other storm-related damages across the city. We recently received confirmation that the Funbrellas would be covered, allowing us to move forward with purchasing replacement frames. We are grateful it is covered as this was an expense we would not have been able to tackle in 1 season with our budget.
Unfortunately, the replacement frames currently have a 6–8 week lead time, putting their arrival sometime in early July. In the meantime, our Parks Crew worked hard to salvage and “bandaid” as many Funbrellas as possible to help provide shade coverage for patrons this summer. Unfortunately, we were only able to temporarily repair two of them.
We understand this situation isn’t ideal, isn’t fun, and overall is a little frustrating — and trust us, we’re right there with you. Shade at the water park matters, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we work through circumstances outside of our control.
Once the new frames arrive, our AMAZING Parks Crew will work quickly to get them installed and ready for everyone to enjoy again. ☀️
