Bundle up and bring the family for a FUN night in Ovid this Friday! It's the Carriage Days 'Home for the Holidays' Christmas! Events begin at 5:45 pm with the light parade starting at 6:45pm atop the High Street hill. Santa will be lighting the tree (don't forget your ornaments to place on the tree) and then walking to the Lions/VFW Hall for pictures. Wagon Rides, Hot Cocoa, Crafts, Music, Photos, Cookies, Gifts and SANTA . . . a Friday night full of free family FUN! Thank you to the Ovid Carriage Days, local businesses and the City of Ovid especially the DPW and Police, what a great thing for our community!

Please see the following important vehicular parking information.

1) Please do not park on the city streets or city parking lots overnight, due to the need for snow removal.

2) For the Santa parade this coming Friday, please do not park downtown (North of Oak on Main Street to Pearl and Main Street) from 5:00PM through 10:00PM, due to the holiday festivities!

Main Street (from north of Oak to south of Pearl Street) will be shut-down and no vehicle traffic will be allowed due to the extra care and caution taken to provide a fun and safe environment for all.

Nearly the entire state finds itself in some sort of winter alert...

Newly issued winter storm warnings are now in effect for almost all of south-central lower Michigan, with exception to the east side where winter weather advisories are now in effect.

Within the warning, start times vary from late Saturday morning to early afternoon. Accumulations range from 5" to as much as 12"!

Within the advisories, start and end times differ greatly, but accumulations will be a a tad bit lower, ranging from 4-7" in the southeast & northern lower parts of the state, to 1-4" in the Upper Peninsula.

An emaciated dog was found near Clark and Watson Roads in critical condition. Sadly, the dog did not survive.

We are seeking any information that could help us understand what happened or identify where this dog came from.
