Activity~closed The hot springs of Ouray have been enjoyed since at least the 14th century when native Ute Indians used the naturally hot clear water for healing. Settlers came to the area in the late 1800's in search of gold and precious minerals, and many found comfort in the natural hot springs. The original swimming pool was constructed in the 1920's and has been a favorite destination ever since. Seven different springs supply the pool with water. At the source some of this water is 150 degrees! The pool consists of several sections maintained at different temperatures for different tastes. The hot sections can be as hot as 106 degrees, and a soaking section, perfect for families and prolonged soaking, is typically 95 degrees, or so. The lap lanes and deep section are usually about 80 degrees in the summer and fall, and cooler than that in the winter months when there is snow on the ground. The Ouray Hot Springs Swimming Pool is an outdoor pool open all year. Many people enjoy the pool the most in the winter after a day spent ice climbing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating on the local ice rink (skates are available to rent at the Hot Springs Pool), or simply as a place to relax and enjoy the splendid scenery of the San Juan Mountains.

Ouray Hot Springs may be closed for maintenance September 14–21, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on soaking! There are three other hot springs in Ouray worth checking out this autumn:

🍂 Wiesbaden Hot Springs Spa & Lodgings offers a unique experience with v***r caves, a private pool, and a sauna.

🍂 Twin Peaks Lodge and Hot Springs is a great option for families, with a swimming pool, multiple soaking pools, a sauna, and a steam room.

🍂 Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs features intimate soaking pools on different tiers, with beautiful views looking north toward the mountains.

Even better, all three are also local lodging options, so you can stay and soak in the same place. Make the most of your time in Ouray and experience all of these hot springs during your visit!

Parking for Fellin Park and the Ouray Hot Springs Pool & Fitness Center will be temporarily closed from Sept. 14-21. Park users and Fitness Center users are encouraged to use the RV/Overflow Parking Lot instead.

The Ouray Hot Springs/Fellin Park parking lot will be used by contractors and work vehicles while they complete re-shelling work on the Overlook Pool during this time. All Fellin Park amenities and the Fitness Center will remain open.

"The perfect end to a day in Ouray. Multiple pools ranging from 75° to 104°F mean you can ease in or go straight for the hot soak — and the backdrop of the San Juan Mountains surrounding you the whole time is unreal.

No sulfur smell. The water is clear, the facility is clean, and the price is reasonable ($30 - Adults).

The Hot Springs are the perfect starting point for a day in Ouray.

Skip the car and hop on the free in-town shuttle to explore the rest of the town. The shuttle connects the Ouray Hot Springs, Box Canyon Falls, Rotary Park, Cascade Falls, and stops near local lodging and restaurants. It runs from 10 AM - 9 PM, and circles through town every hour.

Looking for an accessible option? There’s an ADA-accessible shuttle stop at the Ouray Visitor Center, right next to the Hot Springs.

Soak for a while, then take a hike, explore downtown, grab a bite to eat, or visit Box Cañon Falls before coming back for another soak.

Plus, free parking is available right next to the pool, and the free in-town shuttle connects the Hot Springs with Box Canyon Falls, Rotary Park, Cascade Falls, and stops near local lodging and restaurants.
