Milestones Area Agency on Aging provides home-delivered meals to individuals who are disabled or without transportation in the Ottumwa area.

Volunteers are needed for once or twice-a-week delivery in the Ottumwa area.

Routes are established, and they will even place you where you would be most familiar.

Usually, 5-10 meals are delivered, and the delivery takes 30-45 minutes.

✉️ Happy National Pen Pal Day!

Writing letters does so much for elementary students: it builds literacy skills, boosts confidence, and shows kids their community cares about them.

And all it takes from you is 1-2 letters a month. You write the letters, and we handle the rest!

We're looking for pen pal volunteers for students in Ottumwa and Fairfield for the 2026–27 school year.

Sign up two ways:

Complete our Volunteer Interest Form and select Pen Pals under Programs: https://forms.office.com/r/T6gYHCuDp9
or call 641-682-1264 and ask for Robin or Peggy

The Cardinal Middle School SEAL group for making Eldon's main street shine a little brighter this year! 🖌️

These amazing students and teachers rolled up their sleeves for their Day of Caring project and repainted the curbs along Main Street, and it shows!
We love seeing young people take pride in their community. Eldon is so proud of you! ❤️🖤

What a day at the Growing Together Garden! Earlier this month, we welcomed 232 kindergartners, along with 33 amazing teachers and adult helpers, for Kindergarten AG Day!

Little hands got dirty, big curiosity grew bigger, and there's nothing quite like watching young learners discover where their food comes from! 🥕🐛🌻

Have you seen the Food Bank of Iowa's 2025 Impact Report? The numbers are both eye-opening and inspiring.

Did you know that 1 in 8 Iowans — and 1 in 6 Iowa children — face food insecurity?

That's over 385,000 of our neighbors who don't know where their next meal will come from.
Right here in Wapello County, 15.2% of residents, more than 5,300 people, are living with hunger.

The good news? The Food Bank of Iowa is fighting back — hard.

✅ 27 million+ pounds of food distributed
✅ 22.7 million meals provided
✅ 700 partner agencies across 55 Iowa counties
✅ 2.5 million pounds of food distributed every single month

And here's something many people don't realize: THE FOOD BANK OF IOWA HAS A LOCATION RIGHT HERE IN OTTUMWA!

Hunger is real in our community, but so is the power to do something about it.

Here's how YOU can help:
