Hmmm. What clues do animals leave behind that tell us they are there? We discover that, sing and move and then have a scavenger hunt for animal tracks in the play area. Last comes art time making animal track prints. Learning, observing and doing!

Curt spotted these gorgeous Monarch Butterfly chrysalis on the cement block by the garden. Monarch's do not generally put their chrysalis on a milkweed plant, instead finding something more stable and safe. The first picture was taken Friday September 18th and our little lady came out of her chrysalis today. They take 9-14 days to transform once in the chrysalis stage. We know it is a female because males have one black spot on each of the lower wings. She will soon begin her journey south to the Sierra Madre Mountains in Mexico to stay the winter. Has anyone spotted Monarchs coming through Putnam County?
