Survival skills are passed down from generation to generation, and in an ever changing world, the need to preserve nature’s delicate balance, has never been greater. At The Orphaned Wildlife Center our goal is to provide safety and nurturing to animals that are truly orphaned and prepare them to be return to a life

in the wild. Through our efforts, we hope to encourage people to respect and enjoy our native wildlife.

Jenny (Syrian brown bear) was attending a pond stick-tasting this week. After tasting multiple sticks, she decided on her favorite. She felt the event was a 10 out of 10!

“Susan, who owns Grumpy Goat Fine Yarns in Port Jervis wanted to get some pictures of the beautiful sweater she made for me from bear fur I collected. Janet Klossner spun the fur into yarn. Susan invited Arielle & Alex Prekop of Ginkgo Lens Photography to photograph me and the sweater and the bears. Arielle & Alex work so well together capturing both close up and wide angel pictures at the same time. The colors in the sweater are identical to the colors of the bears. There is no denying that the sweater was made from yarn made from their fur.”

That ‘lump’ on Sonya’s back isn’t a tumor (we’ve gotten this question a lot!). It’s actually a powerful muscle—the one that powers those incredibly strong front legs bears are famous for.

I think this is one of my favorite videos of Jenny and Amy! The facial expressions during their play bout! SO STINKING CUTE! Also a good video to show you naysayers who repeatedly claim we pull all the bears teeth out so we can interact with them. LOL. Errr, no…..and besides bears have a huge paws and claws too right? Haha
