Lots to do this Friday in the Village of Phoenix!

The St Stephens Church Strawberry Festival marks its 25th year so please make your way to the church parking lot on the corner of Main and Culvert Streets and see what it is all about. Mayor Borchik has been asked to officially open the event on this special anniversary. There is an event link in the comments.

This also marks the start of the Music in the Park summer series at Henley Park. Mike Farrar & The House Rockers will be in the pavilion starting at 6pm. This also marks the start of the summer portion of the Bridge House Brats program.

Of course the evening wouldn't be complete without the fireworks display at dark.

Come be a part this village wide event. Several of our businesses in the downtown area will be open and we encourage you to see what they all have to offer.

๐Ÿ Brewerton Speedway: This weekโ€™s racing slate gets underway at the D-Shaped Demon on June 19, with Reagan Companies serving as the evening's sponsor. with the Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman, the AmeriCU Credit Union STARS Mod Lites, the Mirabito DIRTcar 4-Cylinders, and the Smurfit/WestRock Stock Car Challenge Series. For this evening the Mod Lites will be racing topless, giving fans a better view of the drivers in action. Additionally, fans will see the heldover Mirabito DIRTcar 4-Cylinder feature from May 29. Pits open at 4:30 p.m. with grandstands opening at 5:30 p.m., hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. Adult general admission is $15 and kids 18 and younger are free. Pit passes are also available with $35 passes for DIRTcar/IMCA Members and $40 passes for non-members. Brewerton Speedway is located at 60 U.S. Rte. 11 in Brewerton. **Note that there is construction on the bridge coming from the south so speedway personnel suggest going to the Central Square exit and backtracking the 4 miles back to the track, either down Rte. 11 or down Rte. 37. Leaving the facility after the races will be trial and error until we see how the first show goes. Late night bridge traffic hasn't seen the same level of backup and may be ok for egress out of the track. The single lane bridge will be in place for the entire 2026 season. Give yourself a little extra time either way.**

๐ŸŒŠ Summer is always an exciting time at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego! Starting tomorrow, June 19, tours of the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse begin for the season! Tours run Thursday-Saturday and depart from Wright's Landing. Cost is $35 for adults and $20 for children (note that this tour is not recommended for children under five.)

Coming up in July is Paddlefest! This year's paddle takes place on July 11. Paddles include a route from Fulton to Oswego (approx. 13 miles), Minetto to Oswego (approx 5.5 miles), and a route from Fulton to Minetto (approx 6 miles.)

๐Ÿฅž Civil Air Patrol Pancake Breakfast: June 14, 7:30 - 11 a.m. Learn more about the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol. The organization offers a fly-in or drive-in pancake breakfast at the Experimental Aircraft Associationโ€™s (EAA) hangar at the county airport. Breakfast includes pancakes, French toast, sausage, eggs made to order, home fries and various beverages. Cost: $12 for adults, $10 for veterans and seniors aged 65 and older; $7 for kids aged 5 to 11; and free for those under 5 years. Weather permitting, and based on availability, the event also features free airplane rides as part of the EAAโ€™s Young Eagles Flight Program. Pedal planes will also be on hand for smaller pilots. ๐Ÿ›ถ Seneca Chief: June 14. This Erie Canal boat will stop in Brewerton as it makes its way along the Back to Buffalo Tour. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Erie Canal and its cultural, historical and environmental impacts. Riverfront Park, 5449 Bennett St., Brewerton.

๐Ÿชฆ Riverside Cemetery Bus Tour: June 14, 1 โ€“ 3 p.m. The Oswego County Historical Society, along with Friends of Riverside Cemetery, will host a guided tour of the historic Riverside Cemetery. Riverside Cemetery, 4024 County Route 57, Oswego.
