🚂🎨 We’re honored to have the Ostrander Train Mural added to the America 250 “Murals Across Ohio” trail! 🇺🇸

Ostrander began because of the railroad. Before the village existed, the area was mostly farmland and open countryside in western Delaware County. In the early 1850s, plans were being made to build the Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati & Indianapolis Railroad (CCC&I) through this part of Ohio. When railroad leaders selected this location for a train stop and depot, a new community quickly formed around it.

The mural celebrates those humble beginnings and the history that helped shape Ostrander into the village we know and love today. ❤️

Being included alongside murals from communities across Ohio is a special honor as our state celebrates America’s 250th anniversary. If you’re exploring the trail, be sure to stop in Ostrander and experience a piece of the history that helped put our village on the map. 🚂🗺️

🌧️🧤 Huge shoutout to the 6th-grade students who participated in Barons Give Back — the annual 6th Grade Day of Service!

Despite the rainy weather, these hardworking students rolled up their sleeves and helped spread mulch around the playground at Maugans Park. They truly embraced the day with great attitudes, teamwork, and community spirit.

A little rain didn’t stop them from making a BIG difference! Thank you for helping keep our park beautiful and fun for everyone. 💛🤎👏

🇺🇸 We’re proud to announce that May 18 has been officially proclaimed as Ostrander Day by the Ostrander Village Council! 🎉

Why May 18? Because on May 18, 1875, Ostrander was officially incorporated as a village, marking the beginning of our community’s identity, local governance, and the strong small town spirit we still celebrate today.

As we also honor America 250, this proclamation is a meaningful reminder of the importance of self governance, civic pride, and the people who built the foundation of our village.

Going forward, May 18 will be recognized each year as Ostrander Day, a time to reflect on our rich history, celebrate our community, and look forward to the future together.

Here’s to 151 years of Ostrander pride and many more to come! ❤️🤍💙

🎉Ostrander Village Council Celebrates 150 Years!🎉

On April 5, 2026, we proudly mark the 150th anniversary of Ostrander’s very first Village Council meeting, held on April 5, 1876.

While our village was platted in 1852 and officially incorporated on May 18, 1875, it was on this day in 1876 that local leadership first came together to guide Ostrander’s future. Their dedication laid the groundwork for the thriving community we enjoy today.

This milestone is even more special as it coincides with America 250, celebrating the 250th anniversary of our nation. It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of local government in shaping our democracy, right here at home.

Join us in honoring our past, celebrating our present, and looking forward to a bright future for Ostrander!
