Happy Friday, Delaware County! Monday officially begins the Delaware County Emergency Management Fans For Friends box fan drive to help Delaware County residents in need beat the heat this summer. Extreme heat is the #1 cause of weather-related deaths in the US each year. Working with our partners at People In Need, Inc. (PIN), we set a goal of 350 donated box fans to be distributed to Delaware County residents served by PIN. Last year, your generosity positively impacted 244 local families. A special shout-out to our donation collection partners at all of our fire departments, EMS stations, and public libraries in Delaware County, as well as at SourcePoint and PIN. Starting Monday, June 1st, and continuing through September 15th, you can drop off a new box fan at any of these locations. Please see the flyer for days/times. Will you help us help a friend in need? Delaware County District Library Wornstaff Memorial Public Library Community Library - Sunbury, OH @ SourcePoint: Thrive after 55

The final theme of this year's National Electrical Safety Month centers on safe electric vehicle (EV) installations and EV charging safety.

According to multiple reports, over 1 in 5 new vehicles sold globally in 2024 were electric. Some experts predict this share will increase to about 50 percent over the next decade.

It's critical for professionals and consumers alike to understand the hazards and know how to mitigate them.

The Tri-Township Firefighters Association grieves the passing of retired Firefighter Dan Huffman, a longtime volunteer with the Liberty Township / Powell Fire Department , Scioto Township/Ostrander Fire Department , and Radnor Township Fire Department who passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Dan’s life was defined by service to others. For 50 years, he proudly served his community and surrounding communities with unwavering dedication to the fire service. Over the course of his distinguished career, he answered countless calls for help, mentored generations of firefighters, and embodied what it means to serve with integrity, courage, and compassion.

Beyond the uniform, Dan was a trusted colleague, mentor, and friend to many. His commitment to the fire service and the relationships he built along the way have left a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come. His presence within the department and the broader fire service community will be deeply missed.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dan’s family, friends, and our brothers and sisters at Liberty, Scioto, and Radnor Township Fire Departments during this difficult time. Please keep his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Dan Huffman’s legacy of service and sacrifice will forever remain a part of the fire service and the communities he so faithfully served.
