Sanborn Township, Alpena County, Michigan

Sanborn Township, Alpena County, Michigan Sanborn Township Board meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 at the Township H The year round population in the 2010 U.S.

Sanborn Township is located in the southeastern corner of Alpena County. US-23 traverses the community and connects residents to the small urban center of Alpena. Primary water features include Squaw Bay, Devil’s River and Lake Huron. Lowland forests in the eastern parts and farmlands in the western portions account for much of the land cover, while commercial development is concentrated in the un

incorporated community of Ossineke. Public lands are concentrated in the eastern part of the Township, and include state forest lands and the spectacular Negwegon State Park. Census was 2,116 persons, a 1.5 percent decrease from 2000. Between 2000 and 2010 all communities but Wellington Township lost population. Median age was 44.7 years as compared to the statewide median age of 38.9 years. The 2010 Census found 1,083 housing units with 13.5 percent classified as seasonal. The lower percentage of seasonal housing contrasts with many rural communities in the region and clearly shows it serves as a bedroom community of the City of Alpena.

It is pretty sad that when people use the beach park and decide to staple all of the plastic table cloths to the new tables! Not only did they staple them to the sides to hold them down but all over the top of them! Sanborn Township pays for these tables out of their budget to make it a more desirable place to picnic and enjoy the Great Lakes! So please, residents do not destroy these once beautiful tables or other township property.
