Today, the Ossian Fire Department took delivery of a new tanker that will replace Tankers 605 and 606.
Tanker 605 was a 1997 International carrying 2,000 gallons of water with a 500 GPM pump. Tanker 606 carried 1,500 gallons of water and served as a dump-only tanker.
The new tanker is a new build on a 2009 Freightliner chassis 6x6. It carries 3,000 gallons of water and is equipped with a 1,000 GPM pump. The apparatus is also pump-and-roll capable and features a front-mounted water cannon along with sprayers on all four corners, making it well-suited for grass and wildland fire operations.
This apparatus was purchased by Jefferson Township Wells County Indiana and will help improve the department's water supply and firefighting capabilities for years to come.
We would like to thank Jefferson Township for their continued support of the Ossian Fire Department and the community we serve. Firefighters have already started training on the new Apparatus.

May 31, 2026 at 1016 am ,the Ossian Fire Department, along with the Southwest Allen County Fire District, Preble Fire Department, Wells County EMS, and the Wells County Sheriff's Department, were dispatched to Silo Farms for a reported structure fire.
Engine 601 arrived on scene first and located a victim at the front door, partially outside the residence. The crew immediately began life-saving measures. Engine 602 arrived shortly thereafter and extinguished the remaining fire inside the home.
Southwest Allen County Fire District Truck 57 and Battalion 50 arrived and initiated advanced life support (ALS) care. Wells County EMS Medic 3 also responded and assisted with patient care.
Despite the efforts of all responding personnel, the victim succumbed to their injuries.
The scene was secured, and the Wells County Sheriff's Department, Ossian Police Department, Wells County Coroner's Office, and the State Fire Marshal's Office assumed responsibility for the investigation

On April 1st just after 11 pm Ossian Fire Department was dispatched to assist Southwest Allen Co Fire District with a commercial structure fire at Pikes Pub on Wi******er Road

Engine 602 and Tanker 605 worked under the command of DC51. Crews assisted with a water supply and spent several hours inside fighting the fire. For a short time Engine 60I was also dispatched up to Allen Co, during this time Bluffton Fire Territory sent an engine to cover for Ossian. Crews returned to service around 0200 hours.
