As we approach Flag Day on June 14th and the traditional parade 'season,' it's a great time to refresh our knowledge of the United States Flag Code
Today, we begin a series of episodes on flag etiquette:
🔹 The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously.
🔹 When displayed on a wall or in a window, the union (blue field of stars) belongs to the flag's own right — the observer's left.
🔹 When flown at half-staff, the flag is first raised to the peak, then lowered to half-staff. Before being taken down for the day, it should again be raised to the peak before being lowered.
The American flag is more than a symbol—it represents the sacrifices, freedoms, and values that Unite us as Americans. Taking a few moments to learn and follow proper U.S. flag etiquette is one way we can honor that legacy.
Fly it proudly.
