Wednesday evening, firefighters focused on throwing ladders and learning a new carrying technique. OFD8 meets the first Wednesday of every month to cover business, recap calls and improve skills and techniques. Meetings are always open to individuals interested in joining, we'd love to have you!

This week we recognize the dedication of all EMS providers in honor of EMS Week. It is very important for first responders to work together and efficiently, especially in a rural area, to assist the community.đźš‘

This photo was taken at the Kansas Summer Nationals Truck & Tractor Pull in McLouth last fall. EMS and firefighters remain at the ready on scene and are able to foster relationships with each other.

Jefferson County Wildland Task Force has arrived safely back home. The crew made great progress in Southwest Kansas.

Jefferson County Wildland Task Force continues to work tirelessly to assist our Southwest Kansas neighbors.

The crew immediately jumped into action upon arrival Friday evening on the Proffitt Lake Fire and were there again today. Yesterday, they worked the County Road 16 fire. (More videos in the comments)

Personnel is on a short rest break and will return back out this evening for an overnight shift. Thank you to Task Force Lead, Chief Bodenheimer (Jefferson Fire District & Wi******er Fire Department).

Please continue to keep our firefighters and the communities affected in your thoughts and prayers. They are working LONG hours to contain this fire.

Oskaloosa Fire District #8 has deployed a task force to southwest Kansas alongside other Jefferson county firefighters to assist with ongoing wildfires.

OFD8 deployed 2 brush trucks, 1 water tender and 4 personnel. Other departments deployed today were Jefferson Fire District & Wi******er Fire Department and Kaw Fire District #1, with others planning to deploy tomorrow.

Please keep all the firefighters and the affected communities in your thoughts as operations continue.
