⚠️Home and property owners should be aware that property fraud continues to rise across the Country. Here in Winnebago County we have a FREE service called Property Fraud Alert that notifies you should your name (or name similar) come up in any conveyances which is the legal process of transferring property ownership from one party to another. While Property Fraud Alert does not prevent fraud from happening, it provides an early warning system for property owners to take appropriate actions should they determine possible fraudulent activity has taken place. It is important to note the Register of Deeds Office is required to adhere to the Wisconsin State statutes that are set in legislation in how we record documents. We encourage you to contact your local legislation if you have concerns with the process of recording documents in the state of Wisconsin.
