The library goes where you go! 💛 When we’re out in the community, we’re there to help you discover the things that can make life a little more vibrant. Our Community Engagement Librarian Sandy can issue new library cards, renew cards, share information about library services, and most importantly, listen to what you need from your library. Every conversation helps us to better understand how we can meet your needs. Thank you to the Oshkosh Seniors Center for hosting a lively and informative Wellness Fair! We had a great morning with you!

When kids ask for the same book again, that’s learning. Familiar stories help them explore, predict and connect.

Where else can you learn sign language, connect with authors, plan for the future, explore the history of polka, talk about books and read to adorable dogs all in one place? Plan your week with us. You never know what might spark your story!

A great effort to bring our community together and help our neighbors. We're grateful to be a drop-off site for today's donation drive.

Today is the day! Unite with us as we conduct our donation drive today! Consider donating anything from food to hygiene products. One small donation can make a big difference! If you are in a neighborhood that received a door hanger promoting this event, all you have to do is leave your donations on your doorstep. Or stop by the one of our public drop-off sites: Bella Vista, Oshkosh Public Library, Oshkosh Area United Way and Oshkosh North High School (leave outside of door #3). Let's turn a day of tragedy into a day of service!

On the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, Library Director Darryl Eschete shares a reflection on remembrance, understanding and hope.

Those of us old enough to remember the world-changing shock of September 11, 2001, recall the horror and sadness of that day. The disbelief, the heartsickness, the anger and the paranoia that followed that day still echo in the social tensions and politics of our present time, 25 years later. But, just as all such human actions and reactions reveal the occasional viciousness and nastiness of who we can be as a species, stories of that day and the days since also reveal that humans have a deep capacity for comforting each other, supporting each other and turning darkness into light.
Part of the reason public librarians do what we do is that we believe that information and honest inquiry help people to better understand the world around them and the other people in it. We have hope that in a library, people can learn about their fellow humans as interesting doorways to worlds of experience and not abstractions to dismiss as enemies.
Still hoping 25 years later,
Darryl & OPL

Congratulations to 'The Librarians' on the well-deserved Emmy win for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking!

'The Librarians' is a powerful documentary that follows public and school librarians as they unite to combat book banning and defend intellectual freedom on democracy's front lines amid unprecedented censorship in Texas, Florida, and beyond.

Thank you to filmmaker Kim Snyder and all the courageous librarians and advocates who shared their stories to help shine a light on the fight for the freedom to read.
