Our department was selected as a charity recipient from the Oshkosh Area Women’s Association, Inc. Funds we received were utilized to purchase an emergency plug. This tool allows our first responders to disable electric vehicles, safely provide medical care, and extricate patients from electric vehicles during roadside emergencies. Thank you for all your support!

As families gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, we want to remind everyone to stay mindful of fire safety in the kitchen. Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year for cooking-related fires, and most of them are preventable.

Stay in the kitchen when frying, grilling, or broiling food, and keep a close eye on anything simmering on the stovetop. Keep flammable items such as towels, oven mitts, and packaging away from heat sources. If you’re using multiple burners or appliances at once, make sure pathways remain clear to avoid accidental spills or burns.

If you plan on deep-frying a turkey, do so outdoors and far away from buildings, garages, and decks. Never overfill the fryer with oil, ensure the turkey is completely thawed, and monitor temperatures closely.

Your attentiveness helps keep your family and our community safe while you enjoy the holiday. From our department to all of you, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
