2026 CCMG PAVING UPDATE — MILLING COMPLETE!

Milling was successfully completed today! Paving crews are scheduled to return Monday, September 14, and Tuesday, September 15, to begin laying the final surface.

Paving areas include:

North Maple Street
Cherry Street
Beech Street
Cravens Street
Western Avenue
Railroad Avenue

IMPORTANT: PLEASE REMOVE ALL VEHICLES FROM THE WORK ZONES BEFORE CREWS ARRIVE MONDAY MORNING.

Vehicles left within these areas could delay paving operations. Please watch for construction equipment, temporary traffic restrictions, and workers throughout both days.

Weather permitting, we are headed into the final stretch of the 2026 CCMG Project. Thank you for your patience and cooperation—fresh blacktop is almost here! 🏁

The certified ordinance for Ripley County Zoning will not be heard at the Osgood Council meeting on September 15, 2026. A public hearing will be scheduled when all documentation and advertising has been completed.

🚧 COMMUNITY CROSSINGS PROJECT UPDATE 🚧

Great news for our residents on North Maple Street from Fairground Avenue to Railroad Avenue, as well as Cherry Street, Beech Street, Cravens Street, Western Avenue, and Railroad Avenue—we’re almost there!

The base layer of asphalt has been installed. We know it is a little rough right now, but hang in there—the finishing touches are coming soon!

Final milling and the new surface coat are scheduled to begin next Wednesday. Once that work is completed, these streets are going to look fantastic!

Thank you to everyone living in the project area for sticking with us through the dust, noise, and construction. Your patience and cooperation have helped keep this project moving forward.

Good News for Our Natural Gas Customers!

We recently had the opportunity to lock in 100% of our winter natural gas supply at approximately $3.757 per MMBtu through our gas purchasing group, UGM, after a favorable drop in the market.

This proactive move secures our winter gas needs at a price that is lower than last winter’s cost, resulting in guaranteed savings for our utility. More importantly, it helps protect our customers from potential market price increases during the upcoming heating season.

We’re pleased to be heading into winter in a strong position and will continue working to make responsible decisions that benefit both our utility and the community we serve.

💦 The water department received grant funding to help purchase a tidal wave mixer for the north water tower near the high school. The Town of Osgood has been working to amend and update its Business Overlay District (downtown business area). It is our goal to ensure our ordinance is current and conducive to attracting businesses to our downtown. The updated Business Overlay District map is included below for public review.

The overlay boundaries are:
South Buckeye Street: Stops at Franklin Street
North Buckeye Street: Stops at Fairground Road
Railroad Avenue West: From Buckeye to Maple Street
Ripley Street West: From Buckeye To Walnut Street

The streets listed above serve as the boundaries of the overlay district.

Community Feedback has been an important part of this process. After listening to concerns, reviewing the proposed boundaries, and conducting additional research, the updated map reflects the boundaries established in Ordinance 2012-3 and the current proposed boundary changes. The proposed ordinance is attached. Initial ordinance changes are highlighted in yellow; exclusions are struck through, and the most recent changes highlighted in blue.

We care about our community, and we appreciate residents taking the time to ask questions, provide feedback, and for staying involved during this process. Our goal is to move forward with a clear and transparent process while supporting the future of Osgood.
