🚨 OSCEOLA TORNADO SIREN ALERT - PLEASE SHARE! 🚨

Severe weather is expected again this afternoon and tonight. The City of Osceola has three tornado sirens; however, the siren located west of town at the water tower appears to have been damaged by lightning, and the siren to the east has an intermittent issue that may prevent it from functioning properly. The city has already begun the repair process and is currently awaiting necessary parts. As soon as they arrive, they will be repaired! In the event of a tornado warning, our city law enforcement officers will be present in neighborhoods with emergency alerts activated.
Please remember that tornado sirens are designed as early warning systems for people who are outdoors, enabling them to seek shelter immediately. KAIT Chief Meteorologist Ryan Vaughan has repeatedly emphasized this point during storm coverage. Tornado sirens are not optimized for indoor environments and may not be audible inside homes, schools, or other buildings.
Since any electronic siren can fail during severe weather due to lightning storms, power outages and other reasons, it is crucial to have reliable sources of notification inside your home, such as fully charged cell phones and battery-operated weather radios.
