Holy Humidity!! Summer is definitely here!! I shall not complain…too much!! Maybe if we got a little more reprieve from the heat and humidity at night, just so the bugs are not swarming me in the middle of the night when I am trying to get the dogs to come back in. I swear the bugs are going to take me away one of these nights!! It is more probable that I am just going to be one big pin cushion when they are done with me!!!

The Independence Day event in the park was phenomenal!!! The attendance was around 65 and a wonderful time was had by all……great food, conversation, fellowship, entertainment and music I look forward to next year and I highly recommend it if you find yourself with no plans on the 4th next year!!

I will be out of the center for a bit. I will still be able to help by phone if needed, otherwise, please feel free to contact the center between 8:30 -11:30 am @ 402-747-8227. The ladies should be able to answer any question(s) you have or put you in touch with someone in the center that can assist you.

The sign-up sheet for county fair workers (monitoring the competition exhibits) at the fairgrounds is at the “Main Coffee Table” at the center. We receive $50 payment for this service that is applied to our contribution to the Polk Co Senior Services that supplies the meals and other services to our centers. The days for the Fair are Thursday, July 25th thru Sunday, July 28th. Osceola will work on Friday from 10:00 AM thru 10:00 PM. Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Tired of a plain ol’ sandwich and no conversation? Grab a friend or two and give us a call. We would love to get more people eating in the center and maybe even play cards or games after. Give us a call with your ideas and let’s get some social gathering started for all ages!!!

The suggested Congregate Meal (60+) is now $5.50 and the Meal price for under 60 years of age is now $7.00. We still eat at Noon and would love to have more attendees. If you would like to join us for a meal, please give us a call by 11:30 AM, the day before you would like to attend. We would love to have you join us @ 402-747-8227.

How did we already get to July? Wasn’t it just March? Everyone is so busy and always on the go!! It seems to get worse the older I get!! It is no wonder by bed time keeps getting earlier and earlier!! I used to get annoyed with my Mom and Grand Parents when they would go to bed so early when I was still raring to go. By golly, I now understand them!!! I am them!!

The Card Shark Pitch players brought the trophy back to Osceola on Monday, July 1st. Great job ladies!!!

***Mark your calendars!!! If you are looking for something to do on the 4th, there will be a Community Pot Luck at the park with a sing-a-long and entertainment. It should be a fabulous time. After the Pot Luck, if you want to cool of, the Pool will be open and hosting a variety of activities throughout the day. It seems the City Park is the place to hang out on the 4th!! Hope to see you there. Happy Independence Day!!!***
