PSA:
Here’s a clear, practical guide you can share or use personally for preparing for a snowstorm power outage ❄️⚡

❄️ Before the Storm Hits
Power & Heat

Fully charge phones, battery packs, and power banks

Set thermostats a little higher while power is still on

If you have a generator, test it and never run it indoors or in a garage

Stock extra blankets, sleeping bags, and warm clothing

Food & Water

Have at least 3 days of food that doesn’t require cooking

Fill water bottles, jugs, and even the bathtub for emergency use

Freeze containers of water to help keep food cold if the power goes out

Home Prep

Bring pets inside and ensure they have food and meds

Close curtains at night to retain heat

Locate flashlights, lanterns, and extra batteries (avoid candles if possible)

Keep your refrigerator/freezer doors closed during outages

Vehicle & Travel

Fill your gas tank before the storm

Keep an emergency kit in your car: blankets, snacks, water, jumper cables

⚡ During the Power Outage
Use flashlights or battery lanterns instead of candles

Dress in layers and stay in one room to conserve heat

Unplug sensitive electronics to avoid surge damage

Check on elderly neighbors or those who may need assistance

🔌 After Power Is Restored
Plug electronics back in gradually

Discard perishable food if it reached unsafe temperatures

Check your home for frozen or burst pipes

❤️ Important Reminder
Lineworkers will be out in dangerous conditions restoring power. Please give them space, slow down near work zones, and be patient—they’re working as fast and safely as possible.
