This week, the Osawatomie Fire Department proudly recognizes EMS Week and the incredible professionals who answer the call day and night with skill, compassion, and calm under pressure. 🚑❤️

We want to give a special thank you to Miami County EMS for the continued support they provide not only to our community, but to our department as well. From standing beside us on emergency scenes to helping provide ongoing training opportunities for our EMTs, your partnership makes a difference every single day.

The teamwork between fire and EMS is more than shared calls and flashing lights. It’s trust, dedication, and a shared commitment to taking care of the people of Miami County when they need it most.

Thank you to every paramedic, EMT, dispatcher, and EMS provider who shows up ready to serve, no matter the hour or situation. We appreciate you this week and every week

Tonight, members of the Osawatomie Volunteer Fire Department deployed as part of a regional task force alongside Louisburg and Overland Park Fire to assist with wildfire response efforts in southwest Kansas.

These crews will be on a 48-hour deployment helping protect lives, property, and communities impacted by the fires. Please keep all responding firefighters and first responders in your thoughts as they head into challenging conditions. 🔥🚒🇺🇸

This week, the Osawatomie Fire Department proudly recognizes National Police Week and honors the men and women behind the badge who serve our communities with courage, sacrifice, and heart every single day. 🚔🔥

We want to give a special shoutout to Sergeant Mitch Talley, who not only serves and protects as a law enforcement officer, but also stands beside us as a firefighter here at OZFD. His dedication to both callings speaks volumes about his character and commitment to this community.

Whether it’s running toward danger in uniform or answering the tones at the station, Mitch represents what service is all about.

Thank you to all law enforcement officers for the long hours, the hard calls, and the sacrifices often unseen by the public. Osawatomie stands behind you this week and every week. 🇺🇸

Today is National Firefighters Day 🔥🚒

At the Osawatomie Volunteer Fire Department, being a firefighter means more than just answering calls. It means leaving dinner tables, warm beds, and time with family to show up when our community needs it most.

We’re not full-time. We’re your neighbors, coworkers, and friends… who drop everything when the tones go off.

It means standing in the heat, the smoke, and the unknown—side by side—doing whatever it takes to protect lives, homes, and each other.

To every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and heart to this job… thank you. And to our community, thank you for trusting us to serve you.

Proud to serve. Proud to be volunteer. 🚒🔥

Today we had the pleasure of hosting our friends from Mrs. Bates’ class as they stopped by the station for a visit 🚒

The crew loved showing them around, answering questions, and sharing a little bit about what we do every day to keep our community safe. We might have even recruited a few future firefighters along the way 😉

Thank you, Mrs. Bates and class, for spending part of your day with us. We hope you had as much fun as we did! Come back and see us anytime 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

Do we really have to say flood water is dangerous?
Apparently yes. So here’s your reminder from Fire Pup:
If the road is flooded, don’t drive through it. Depth is hard to judge, the current can be stronger than it looks, and the road may be washed out underneath.
What looks shallow can become deadly in seconds.
Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
