PRESS RELEASE

03/26/2026
On Friday, March 20, 2026, we received a report of a suspicious individual near the CRC and Osage City Park. The reporting party stated that the individual was behaving in an intimidating or threatening manner. An officer responded to the area and accompanied the reporting party back to their vehicle, but was unable to locate the individual.

Following further investigation, including a review of video footage from the CRC and Osage Community Schools, it was determined that there was no immediate threat to the reporting party and no ongoing threat to the public. The individual in the footage was interviewed and stated they were walking their dog and singing along with music. No interaction occurred between the two parties.

We appreciate the public’s willingness to report suspicious activity. It is always preferable to investigate a reported concern, even if it ultimately proves harmless, than to risk an unreported incident

*Video provided by the CRC. The time is off by an hour on the video (daylight savings hadn't been updated). The reporting party is in white.

Today is Day 2 of Iowa's Severe Weather Awareness Week and we are focusing on tornado safety! Where is your safe place? Safe places include storm shelters and basements — but if not available, an interior room without windows can also be protective.
