It has brought to my attention that conversations have been made about the salary of the Cheif Scout Executive of Boy Scouts of America. Sites like www.glassdoor.com and www.pintas.com list the salary of Roger C. Mosby at almost 1.6 million dollars. These statements are false. They also list den leaders salaries at $15-25 per hour, Cubmasters at $50,000 plus and other positions we don't even have in the organization. I have never received a dime in 32 years.
So lets look at some true facts.
While his is a paid position no one at the district or unit level is paid. We all volunteer that one hour a week.
If you research his past you will find his background in the oil and gas industry in Texas. His salary with BSA is small compared to his previous salaries. He does it in part for love of the program.
Mr. Mosby just finished administering a $2.6 billion dollar settlement and has fought a near endless legal battle the last three years. According to form 990 that BSA turned into the IRS his salary is $501,436.00. While that is high for a CEO of a volunteer organization, no other organization has been under fire like Scouting has.
Why would websites put out false information? Because disinformation is big business and people believe what they read. If you say something enough times it will be believed even if it is false. If you can convince people that an organization is not using money wisely they will stop giving. And without funding Scouting will stop to exist.
Research before you spread information. If you have concerns I am happy to visit with you and examine the facts. There are many who want Scouting shut down. Dont help them by spreading misinformation..
