What a night. We’d like to thank Orwell Council President Chris Ruks for helping out! He stayed out all night on Staley Road where there were downed wires. Above and beyond helping to keep Orwell safe. Thank you!

Today’s high winds – which reached 60-70 mph in some areas – have caused widespread outages across our service area. The winds will begin to die down as the night goes on, but we expect gusts to continue into tomorrow morning. We have already encountered over 100 broken poles across FirstEnergy’s Ohio footprint, and we expect that number to increase along with broken trees, downed wires and more.

The ongoing high winds could slow restoration efforts, as crews cannot safely work in buckets when wind speeds exceed 40 mph. Our top priority is safety, and we appreciate your patience while they work to restore service as it’s safe to do so.

If you are without power, please be sure to report your outage:

Thank you for hanging in there with us and for supporting our crews. Our crews are fully committed to restoring service to all customers, and we will keep you updated every step of the way. Stay safe!

Use caution as wires and trees are down all over the area. Stay away from all downed power lines. Call 911. Treat every wire as a live wire. Stay safe!

Long overdue but big news for our county!

Today, Ashtabula County took a stand.
Ashtabula County has officially recognized 911 Telecommunicators as First Responders and is urging Ohio to do the same statewide.

911 Telecommunicators are often the very first on the line in an emergency. Their voices guide callers through crisis, coordinate life-saving responses, and make critical decisions in moments of chaos. This recognition is long overdue, and we’re calling on Ohio lawmakers to make it official across the state.

Often unseen, always essential.
911 Telecommunicators are a vital link in every emergency response, providing calm, clarity, and coordination when it matters most. Thank you for being the steady voice behind the scenes.
They may work behind the scenes, but their impact is felt on every emergency call. They are a vital part of the response guiding, coordinating, and saving lives every day.
