I've lived in Orting 36 years, been a Career Firefighter for 31 years, and a construction company owner for 30.
My service work in Orting reflects my interest in Orting, and is extensive with 18 years in the Orting Fire Department as Interim Chief, Ass't Chief, Captain, and firefighter. I led construction of the North Park Building just a few years ago, and am active member of Orting Lions Club.
I am married to Cheryl Temple (former mayor) with 3 kids, 3 grandchildren. Every one of them has been or is an Orting student.
I have always followed the issues surrounding Orting and want to concentrate on what community members are most concerned with:
1. TRANSPORTATION: The City has taken care of its infrastructure when development comes into the City limits, but the county and state do not. That leads to congestion in and out of Orting, and on our city streets--especially at commute times. I want to reach out to county and state leadership and work with them in regards to this huge problem.
2. SUPPORT THE ORTING POLICE: We are the 19th Safest City in State and that's great! But I want to continue support of police to hit our crime rate and the opiod crises HARD! That means our police need our financial support.
3. BUSINESS-FRIENDLY. Taxes need to be spread out more even between citizen property taxes and business taxes.
