On Monday, May 25, firefighters extinguished a structure fire in Paradise. During the subsequent investigation, Law Enforcement Officers identified the cause as being arson, and made an arrest. See the news release for details.

At scene of a vegetation fire in south Butte County. In the community of Honcut near School Street and Ahart Road. Report of a hay field on fire. Forward spread is stopped.

All structure threats mitigated. Air and ground resources worked together to contain the fire, and there are dozens of large hay bales in the fire perimeter. No threat of escape but they will take time and lots of water to put out.

Firefighters are training on a “high risk, low frequency” scenario. We appreciate the Paradise School District for donating a bus, so firefighters can train if a bus is ever involved in accident. These are invaluable, training events, and provide a great opportunity.

Congratulations to Alex Yount, our newest Fire Apparatus Engineer! Alex just graduated this morning from the CAL FIRE Company Officer Academy in Ione. This six-week course puts new Engineers through their paces as they transition to driving a fire engine and working all aspects of pump operations. In addition to his added responsibilities as a company officer, FAE Yount will be moving to a new Battalion, serving the residents of Butte County and the city of Gridley at Fire Station 74.

Honored to join our Butte County Law Enforcement partners today on the annual “Law Enforcement Torch Run.” This fundraiser supports the Special Olympics of Northern California.

Table Mountain Fire Center Crew 2 and E2180 from Oroville Headquarters represented the true spirit of CAL FIRE , community and inclusion.

Thank you to the organizers and all of our LE brothers and sisters for having us! We had an awesome time supporting a great cause.

CAL FIRE/Butte County will be joining our Law enforcement partners tomorrow for the annual "Law Enforcement Torch Run." This group run raises funds for Special Olympics athletes all over California. Join us along the route. The event begins at 8:30 AM at Basque Norte, and the route is straight down the Esplanade, concluding at the City Plaza.

Join Butte County Law Enforcement agencies as we carry the “Flame of Hope” for Special Olympics Northern California on May 28, 2026!

Come out to cheer on local law enforcement, support Special Olympics athletes, and be part of an inspiring community event that celebrates inclusion, determination, and hope. The torch run will start at Basque Norte in Chico at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at the City Plaza.
