❤️ Important Support Reminder for Our OCESD Families ❤️

If your student is navigating a difficult loss or going through a tough time, please know that you are not alone. OCESD is offering grief support today for any students in need.

We have set up several support and activity stations at the gym, designed to give students safe, gentle, and hands-on ways to process their feelings at their own pace:

1️⃣ Expression & Legacy: A space to write letters, record a favorite memory for a community chain, or use the safe box to let the words go.

2️⃣ Grounding & Sensory: Tools to reset and find calm, including kinetic sand, smooth stones, fidgets, and breathing exercises.

3️⃣ Mindful Coloring: A quiet space to pick a color, focus on a pattern, and let the mind rest.

4️⃣ Sanctuary & Release: A safe space to just exist, reflect in silence, or write down heavy feelings and use the mini paper shredder to physically release them.

👥 Who is available: School counselors, district social workers, and dedicated support staff are on-site and ready to listen, comfort, and help.

Out of respect for the privacy of the family during this devastating time, the student’s name is not being released. Our entire school community is heartbroken by this tragic loss. Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to the student’s family, friends, and loved ones. In response to this tragedy, Studios @ Central will provide immediate emotional and grief support for students, staff, and families.

What do you get when you mix classic cars, amazing students, and a whole lot of Silver and Black? 🏎️🖤

Our Superintendent, Dr. Holtom, had the absolute best time at the Kinder Car Show today. He managed to capture two of his absolute favorite things in one photo: our incredible Oroville City Elementary School District's students and his beloved Las Vegas Raiders! 🏴‍☠️🏈

🛞 VROOM VROOM! Destination: 1st Grade! 🏁✨

The annual Ophir Elementary Kinder Car Show was a roaring success today! Our amazing kindergarteners traded in their backpacks for some serious horsepower, cruising through the hallways and into their next big adventure.

From custom cardboard sports cars to tricked-out cardboard trucks, these kids brought the creativity, the smiles, and some absolute style. 🎨📦

🎉 BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Sabyn Saetern! 🎉

Let’s give a massive round of applause to Sabyn from Studios at Central for earning the title of Superintendent for a Day! 🏆✨ Sabyn earned this awesome honor by achieving the highest growth school-wide on his state testing. Hard work truly pays off!

For his special day in charge, Sabyn chose to hit the court for a game of basketball with Superintendent, Dr. Holtom 🏀 and, of course, celebrated with some of his absolute favorite treats! 🍫🍦

🚌✨ 6th Grade Takes on SF! ✨🌉

Yesterday, our Studios @ Central 6th graders had an absolute blast on their field trip to San Francisco! The adventure started early with a cozy, fun ride on our charter buses 🚌 before we hopped on the ferry ⛴️ to head over to Alcatraz Island! The students did an amazing job tuning into the audio tour and learning all about the island's fascinating history. 🎧🔒

After exploring the Rock, it was time for some classic SF eats! We headed over to Boudin Bakery for a wonderful sit-down lunch 🥖🥗, and then walked over to Ghirardelli Square to treat ourselves to some world-famous, delicious desserts! 🍦🍫

Many of our students shared that this was their very first time visiting the City, and they were completely in awe of the fast-paced city life! 🥰 One of the best highlights of the day? The absolute eruption of claps and cheers as our buses drove across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge! 🌉🙌

This was definitely a field trip that will go down as a core memory for everyone involved! 🧠❤️

A massive THANK YOU to our incredible parent and staff chaperones who helped keep everyone safe and smiling all day long. We couldn't have done it without you! 👏
