Safe Place Advocacy services are free and confidential for any Butte College student, staff/faculty member.

The mission of the Safe Place is to provide a free, confidential, and visible support for people harmed by sexual assault, intimate partner violence and, stalking. We are here to support you no matter your gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, ability, socioeconomic standing, etc. We meet people with belief and empathy and are client led in our services.

My name is Jose Gonzalez, and I am an adjunct counselor at Butte College. I am a former community college student and a PUENTista at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, CA. After earning my associate degree in social science, I transferred to California State University, Sacramento, where I earned a bachelor's degree in social work and a master's degree in counseling. My passion and goals through my community college experience are to help break barriers and support students with their educational and career goals.

Our Story

Safe Place & Wellness Program offers crisis intervention, ongoing support, and advocacy services to students of Butte College. Students experiencing hardships such as roommate or peer violence, isolation, sexual assault, intimate partner abuse, and stalking should all inquire about services. We also offer support for overall wellness, su***de prevention, and for our Veteran and LGBTQ+ students. For more information about services please visit the office or call 879-6185. Services are available by appointment at the Chico Center campus.
