This Christmas day, your local El Medio fire station will be shutdown. Your elected representatives have chosen this day to jeopardize your family’s safety and close your fire station. Firefighters will be terminated and LAID OFF effective Christmas morning.

On what traditionally is a joyous day, your firefighters will be emptying out their lockers and boarding up your fire station. This reckless decision will leave you and your family’s safety in danger. Your elected officials have decided to stop YOUR fire protection service and lay us off permanently on Christmas. Because of this poor decision by your elected officials, the following will take place.

• Complete closure of the current Station located in your community.
• Your tax dollars WILL NOT be funding this station or a resource in your community.
• You WILL see longer response times to all emergencies.

Come let your voice be heard, at the next board of directors meeting! Today, December 9th @ 5:30pm, at the El Medio Fire Department.

PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT – El Medio Fire Department is scheduled to close. On December 25th, the board of directors are planning on shutting the doors of the fire department. This will mean longer response times from fire fighters when you call 9-1-1.

El Medio Fire Fighters are working to keep you safe and trying to keep the fire station open. Together we can make our commmunity stronger.

El Medio Fire Department has been serving the South Oroville residents since 1925.

El Medio's Water Tender 3, and several staff members responded to the fires.

Day one was August 17th, they worked a 24 hour shift on the , then they moved up to the Feather Falls area, and lastly worked the fires up near Inskip.

Our operators included two of our wonderful volunteer staff member, Steve Terry, Christine Madden, along Captain Meyer, Captain Gamble, FF Waldren, and FF Stephen's.

Together they hauled over 262,500 gallons of water, in 12 days!

While working the Butte lightning complex, we remained fully staffed to meet the needs our district.

Public Notice/Tax measure

The Board of Directors and Chief G. Nystuen feel it's important to advise The citizens of South Oroville, served by the El Medio Fire Department of our critically low budget balance.

With no relief in sight, we have proposed a tax measure to continue to provide excellent Emergency services.

If we do not take immediate action, the future of El Medio will be uncertain.

We wholeheartedly understand the timing of a tax increase is not ideal. However, this is our only option.

We are committed to maintaining excellent services during this difficult time and will provide updates on this situation as they become available.

Smile you are on camera!!

Throwing eggs at the department is beyond disrespectful, not to mention time consuming to clean up. This behavior needs to stop!

In the last 2 years we've had our outgoing mail stolen, on duty staff vehicle broken into, equipment taken out of our water tender and now this!!
What a way to say Thank You to our Firefighters! 🤯
