This week, we want to thank one of our important food bank partners: The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

While many people see food moving through our warehouse here in Oroville, part of that story begins with larger food bank partnerships that help make regional distribution possible.

Through partnerships like this, French Family Food Bank is able to receive and move larger quantities of food that support local distributions, partner agencies, pantries, churches, and community programs across our region.
Because of this partnership:

✅ Food can move at a larger scale
✅ Local distributions are better supported
✅ Partner agencies and community programs are strengthened

We’re grateful for the partnerships that help food move farther, with care.

Food moves through many hands before it reaches the people and places that need it.

French Family Food Bank serves as a regional hub, helping move food to local partner agencies across Butte County, including food banks, pantries, churches, nonprofits, and distribution sites.

Every box represents coordination.
Every partnership matters.
Every connection helps food move farther together.

We’re grateful for the network of people, agencies, and community partners helping strengthen local hunger relief across our region.

Katie helps lead the day-to-day work that keeps French Family Food Bank moving. From food safety and volunteer coordination to grocery recovery, sorting, storage, and distribution, her role helps make sure food is handled with care and gets where it needs to go.

As Katie shared, “I love running French Family Food Bank because helping people isn’t just something I do — it’s who I am. There was a time in my life when I was lost and broken, and Jesus met me right there and pulled me out. He set my feet on a new path, and now I get to turn that pain into purpose by bringing real hope, real help, and real love to people who need it most.”

A lot of this work happens behind the scenes, but it matters deeply. We’re grateful for leaders like Katie, whose experience, compassion, and steady commitment help make this work possible every week.

Good things take time.
What’s growing here is more than food.

This is care, consistency, and a deeper commitment to serving our community well.

This garden is the start of something more.

French Family Food Bank receives food through a strong network of partners and sources. Much of that food comes through the Feeding America network, along with local grocery recovery and local producers. Together, those connections help keep good food moving through Butte County instead of going to waste.

That network matters because local hunger relief is never the work of one source alone. It takes partnership, coordination, and people willing to help move food where it is needed most.

At French Family Food Bank, much of the work happens behind the scenes — sorting, checking, packing, and coordinating food so it can reach the communities that need it most.

As a regional distribution hub, we help support trusted partner agencies with care, accountability, and consistency every step of the way.

One of our favorite community traditions is coming back.

CHAT’s Annual Pancake Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt returns on Sunday, April 5th, at the Creekside Rose Garden. It’s a simple morning. Pancakes, families gathering in the park, kids running through the egg hunt, and neighbors connecting with neighbors.

Events like this support Chico Housing Action Team’s work helping individuals and families move from homelessness to stability.

Bring the kids. Bring your friends. Start your Easter weekend with the community.

Tickets are available now at chicohousingactionteam.net.

Faces of Impact: Meet Larry

Larry is a recipient at Mount of Olives, one of our partner agencies.

Larry shared that receiving food “makes it so I don’t have to go hungry.” But for him, it is more than food — it is also “the fellowship,” “everybody getting together and being social.” Looking back on his experience, he said, “When my house burned down… they were there and helped me.”

Stories like Larry’s remind us that this is about more than meals. It is about showing up for people.

This is what impact looks like. More than food. It’s community.

Did you know?

In California, an estimated 27% of households with children have struggled with food insecurity, showing how widespread the need is even in a major agricultural state.

That’s why partner networks and local distribution hubs matter—working together to move food where it’s needed most.
