Planning to vote by absentee ballot? Here’s what you need to know.

Minnesota voters can request an absentee ballot online and have it mailed directly to them. Request your ballot through the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office: https://mnvotes.sos.mn.gov/abrequest/index

Once you receive and complete your ballot, you can return it by mail for free or drop it off at Orono City Hall beginning September 18.

Absentee voting is a simple way to make your voting plan and cast your ballot on your schedule.

The voter registration system ensures that only one ballot is counted for each voter. Learn more about election safeguards and find other voting information at https://oronomn.gov/261/Elections.

Looking for a place to enjoy a fall walk? Put Saga Hill Nature Area on your list.

This nearly 29-acre wooded natural area offers walking trails, benches and plenty of opportunities to slow down and enjoy Orono’s natural landscape. And with fall colors beginning to arrive, it’s a beautiful time to explore.

Saga Hill has a little history to go along with the scenery, too. The area was once home to Swedish and Norwegian settlers and sits atop the highest point in western Hennepin County. Today, the landscape includes sugar maples, quaking aspens, native white pines and prairie fields, creating a great mix of colors and scenery as the seasons change.

So grab a jacket, take a walk and enjoy a little bit of fall in Orono.
