Tucked away just steps from Lake Minnetonka's West Arm Bay, Highwood Nature Trail offers wetlands, woodlands, and abundant wildlife all within a peaceful 12-acre natural area.

An unimproved walking path and two boardwalks provide opportunities to explore this unique habitat and observe the many species that call it home. Keep an eye out for birds, deer, foxes, and groundhogs along the way.

Whether you're looking for a quiet walk, a chance to connect with nature, or a place to enjoy local wildlife, Highwood Nature Trail is a hidden gem worth exploring.

A small parking area is available on site. If you're planning a visit, please use caution during rainy weather, as trails and boardwalks may become slippery. Please remember to pack out everything you bring in, dispose of waste properly, and help protect the natural habitat.

Time for Septic Pumping!

In order to keep a healthy septic system, pumping needs to take place at least once every three years. If you are unaware of the last time your septic system was pumped, please call City Hall at (952) 249-4600.

Once your system has been pumped, an inspection report must be sent to the City. The septic maintainer is required to provide an inspection report within 30 days of completing the work. For a list of licensed maintainers, go to https://www.pca.state.mn.us/water/ssts-search. Get your septic system set up for a pump today!

Happy Garden Week, Orono!

June is prime gardening season in Minnesota. A few quick tips:
• Water deeply, not daily, to encourage stronger roots
• Add mulch to help retain moisture and reduce weeds
• Deadhead spring blooms to keep flowers coming
• Pull weeds now before they take over by July

And remember: if your tomatoes are still smaller than you'd hoped, you're not alone.
