What a great Saturday for extrication, patient treatment and LifeFlight landing zone training with the Clearwater County Ambulance District. Thank you to all who attended. A special thank you to JSD 171/Orofino Jr Sr High School for providing the high school parking lot for extrication operations and the football field for landing zone operations. Also, thank you to John Boys’s Towing for donating the vehicle for extrication operations. These individuals gave up their Saturday to better serve their community.

Spring is here and so is a great training opportunity. We would like to encourage the public to attend and observe. Training will be held on April 18, 2026 at the Orofino Jr/Sr High School. We will be working with the Clearwater County Ambulance District and Life Flight Network for extrication, landing zone, and patient hand off. We will start with the extrication portion at 9AM, break for lunch at 12PM, and resume training with Life Flight at 1:30PM. We believe this will be a great opportunity for the public to observe some of what we do in a controlled and safe environment. We look forward to seeing you there!

A notice to our great community:
Orofino Fire Department will be conducting MAYDAY drills at 119 144th st. tonight between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm. This will include the use of fog machines to fill the structure with simulated smoke. Please be aware of this if you see "smoke" coming from the green house at the end of 144th in Orofino. Thank you all, and do not let this be a reason to delay calling 911 if you believe there is a fire. A big 'Thank You' to Riverside Water and Sewer for allowing us to use this building for our training needs.

The Orofino Fire Department is excited to introduce our newest team member… Sparky the Fire Dog! 🐾🔥

Sparky will be helping us promote fire safety, connect with our youth, and bring an extra spark of fun to community events throughout Orofino.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Light My Fire Inc. for their generous no-match grant, which made it possible for us to purchase Sparky the Fire Dog mascot as well as educational fire safety goody bags for children in our community. Their support allows us to expand our fire prevention efforts and reach our youth in a meaningful and memorable way.

We’re proud to add Sparky to the OFD family and look forward to seeing him out and about in our community!

Be sure to say hello when you see Sparky around town!
