Reminder Clearwater County Open Horse Show is this Saturday, August 22nd at the Weippe Rodeo Grounds! Return registration forms to the UI Extension Office Clearwater County at 2200 Michigan Ave, Orofino, ID, 83544 or bring them to the show on Saturday.

Two fun 4-H classes are coming up next week to help keep kiddos busy before school starts!

Join us for some creative fun and learn a new skill!

Wednesday, August 12th: Capitol Christmas Tree Ornament Workshop
Create a one-of-a-kind ornament that will travel all the way to Washington, D.C.! Your handmade ornament will be displayed on the United States Capitol Christmas Tree, a beautiful tree harvested right here from the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest. What an amazing opportunity to be part of a piece of Idaho history!

Friday, August 14th: Cookie Decorating for Beginners (Ages 12+)
Learn the basics of decorating cookies with royal icing! Cookies and icing will be prepared ahead of time so we can focus on learning decorating techniques, tips, and tricks to create beautiful designs.

Both classes will be led by Clearwater County 4-H Program Manager, Marissa Reggear.

Community Service Opportunities for Clearwater County 4-H Members!

We're gearing up for fair, and we have several community service projects coming up. This is a great way to give back to our community, earn community service hours, and help get our fairgrounds ready!

Bleacher Painting – Help freshen up the bleachers at the Lumberjack Arena.

Livestock Barn Clean-Up – Join us as we clean and prepare the barn for fair.

Livestock Arena Panel Set-Up – We'll be assembling the livestock panels in the arena. This project is best suited for older youth, as it requires some lifting and using hand tools. If you have a 9/16" socket, please bring it along! It will make the job go much faster!

Many hands make light work, and we'd love to see as many 4-H members and families as possible come lend a hand. Contact the Extension Office if you have any questions at 208-476-4434 or [email protected].

It's that time of year! 🐎 The Clearwater County Open Horse Show will be held August 22nd, 2026 at 9:00am at the Weippe Rodeo Grounds.

You can pick up a registration form at the UI Extension Office Clearwater County or it is attached in the photos. All registration forms must be returned by August 17th by 5:00pm to the UI Extension Office Clearwater County or emailed to [email protected].

Free for Clearwater County residents to enter. $20 entry fee for non-Clearwater County residents. Fee will cover ribbons and prizes.

Food concession will be available (cash only).
