This morning, we had the pleasure of hearing from Kris Sanders of 1 Ohana 1 Community Inc. as our guest speaker. Her work is truly inspiring and makes a tremendous impact on children entering the foster care community.

This incredible 501(c)(3) organization not only collects and distributes much-needed items to foster families, but also ensures foster children experience the joy of the holidays by providing Easter baskets and Christmas gifts so they do not go without.

We are incredibly grateful for all Kris and her organization do for our community and encourage everyone to reach out to learn how they can support this meaningful mission. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children and families in need. đź’™

This morning, the Seabreeze Kiwanis Club of Daytona Beach had the privilege of hosting John Reid and Spencer Hathaway from the State Attorney's office. John Reid, Chief Assistant and Board-Certified Criminal Trial Attorney, delivered a very engaging and informative presentation. It was particularly impressive to learn that they have a 95% success rate in prosecuting cases.

In addition, we had the pleasure of hosting Lisa Adams, Manager at Synovus Bank in Ormond Beach who just merged with Pinnacle Financial Partners, as a guest of our club. Thank you, Lisa, for joining us.

The Seabreeze Kiwanis Club of Daytona recently had the pleasure of hosting Matt Metz, our elected Public Defender for the 7th Judicial Circuit.

It was an engaging and informative presentation. Mr. Metz shared his professional background, provided insight into the roles and responsibilities of his office and attorneys, and emphasized the importance of upholding a just and fair legal system for all.

We were honored to welcome a very special guest speaker this morning, Derrick Collins, CEO and Director of Mr. & Ms. Mentoring.

Derrick delivered an inspiring and impactful presentation, sharing how his nonprofit provides vital therapy and enrichment-based programs to youth in our community. His organization serves those who need it most, often receiving referrals from other groups that are unable to offer the specialized resources his team provides.

Our Kiwanis Club was pleased to welcome Dr. Stella Wilson, Rx, who joined us to share insights about her business, Be Balanced.

While Be Balanced is known as a weight loss center, Dr. Wilson emphasized that their approach goes far beyond that—focusing on overall wellness, helping clients feel their best through holistic and natural methods. She also highlighted newer offerings, including peptide therapy, as part of their comprehensive programs.

This morning, we were pleased to welcome Melissa Mason, Director of Community Engagement for the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia, as our guest speaker.

Melissa shared an exciting preview of Duck Fest, taking place on March 28 from 11 AM to 2 PM. This fun-filled event supports the Early Learning Coalition’s School Readiness Program and promises something for everyone!

She also invited us to the “Duck Tail Reception” on Thursday, March 26, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens. Guests will enjoy a unique “Yellow Carpet” experience as local celebrities unveil their one-of-a-kind decorated ducks. Duck Fest and raffle tickets will also be available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting the Early Learning Coalition.

Last week, on March 12, our club had the pleasure of welcoming guest speaker Jeanna Carley—an accomplished artist, playwright, and author.

Jeanna gave an engaging talk about her book, sharing just enough insight to spark curiosity without giving away the story. Attendees were also fortunate to receive their own copies, making the experience even more special.

Personally, I’m especially excited to dive into this book, which is inspired by real historical events. It’s sure to be a compelling and meaningful read!

Had a great Florida Kiwanis Midyear Meeting at the Halifax River Yacht Club yesterday. Great fellowship and informative breakout sessions. Also, we met probably the youngest Governor-elect in Florida history, Linda Skathuun. Absolute dedication and high energy! Our Seabreeze Kiwanis Club of Daytona Beach was honored to welcome Danielle Antoine, Chief of Programs for Community Partnership for Children, as our guest speaker yesterday.

Danielle provided an enlightening overview of how our foster care system works and shared information about the many invaluable programs available for community members to get involved with.
