For nearly 18 years, Joanne Grant has been a dedicated part of the Orlando Main Street program and a driving force behind Mills 50 Main Street. Her years of service are a remarkable milestone, but what truly stands out is the lasting impact she has made on the district, its businesses, its residents, and the Main Street community.

“Joanne Grant, aka The Main Street Queen, has turned Mills 50 into a nationally recognized example of how community-driven, preservation-focused Main Street programs can breathe new life into historic neighborhood commercial districts. When Joanne started in Mills 50, there were three blocks of vacant storefronts. Today, Mills 50 is a blend of trending new businesses, the historic Vietnamese restaurants and retail shops that was voted as one of the most interesting neighborhoods in Florida.” — Sherry Gutch, City of Orlando Director of Placemaking

Over the years, Joanne has helped bring countless events and initiatives to life, including the Annual Lunar Dragon Parade, Music in Mills, Virginia Drive Live, Golden Girls Gone Wild, Sip & Savor, Ale-Liance, and so many more. Through each event, she creates opportunities for local businesses to connect with the community, brings people into the district, and showcases the unique character that makes Mills 50 such a special place.

But Joanne’s impact as the Executive Director cannot be measured by events alone. It can be seen in the relationships she has built, the businesses she has supported, the directors she has encouraged, and the countless ways she continues to advocate for Main Streets.

Nearly 18 years of service is more than a milestone. It is a legacy.

Harrison's Pharmacy is a great example of how small businesses strengthen our city. Since 1982, Harrison's has offered prescription services with personalized care for residents.

A few years ago, Dr. Amarjit Kaur purchased the pharmacy, which is located in our Curry Ford West Main Street, with the goal of continuing its 40-plus-year legacy. I enjoyed spending time with Dr. Kaur and her staff today to learn more about how they serve Orlando residents.
