It's National Arts in Education week!! How are you celebrating? Here's one way, if you're looking for ideas.

🎨🎵 National Arts in Education Week starts now (September 13–19).

All week, we’re making the case that every student, in every community, deserves access to a quality arts education — and this year, we need your voice more than ever.

Here’s one way to jump in: on September 17, 3:00–4:15 PM ET, join our first in a series of Community Conversations. It’s a chance to help shape a National Arts Agenda — grounded in what’s actually happening in communities across the country. We'll share real data, actionable tools, and a collective vision for the future.

👉 RSVP now: https://bit.ly/4x5mi65

Let’s make this week count.

Woo hoo!! This is awesome news for two awesome organizations.

Open Scene and Art & History Museums of Maitland have announced a three-year residency partnership that will bring year-round international performing arts programming to the historic Maitland Art Center.

On paper, it’s kind of a no-brainer as the agreement pairs A&H’s campus, collections and audiences with Open Scene’s programming, production capacity and international artist network. Under the deal, Open Scene will present recurring year-round public programs at the Maitland Art Center throughout the three-year residency, spanning performance, film, literature, immersive experiences, workshops, and public talks.

The open call for our 2027 Artist in Residence program begins next week, September 15!

Check application details here: https://artandhistory.org/programming-education/education-2/residencies/air/

The Artist in Residence Program invites visual artists from across the United States and beyond to immerse themselves in a 4-week residency experience at the Maitland Art Center. Open to artists 25 years of age and older, the program welcomes both established and emerging talents working in painting, drawing, printmaking, installation art, or sculpture.

Artists are provided with a private studio and living quarters located within the National Historic Landmark campus. In the spirit of Smith's original vision, the residency offers artists an environment of solitude and focus, ideal for those seeking to break new ground in their work. A&H supports resident artists with a $500 living stipend and access to its vibrant arts community, which includes an active Art School, contemporary exhibitions, and a thriving studio residency program.

Application Closes: Monday, October 19
