A huge thank you to Emmy Award-winning journalist, film producer, speaker, and author Stacia Kalinoski and the Epilepsy Agency of the Big Bend for inviting us from the Epilepsy Association to be part of such a meaningful event.🗣️
It was an honor to hear Stacia’s powerful story, learn from her experiences, and have the opportunity to share more about the work we do to support individuals and families affected by epilepsy. Moments like these remind us of the importance of advocacy, awareness, connection, and making sure no one has to navigate epilepsy alone. 💜
Thank you for bringing our communities together and creating space for such an important conversation!

Oh, what a wonderful morning it was! 💚📚✨

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of attending the annual Community Partner Breakfast at the Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center. With a fun Dr. Seuss-inspired theme, great food, and even better company! It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow community partners and the Cultural, Civic, and Community Engagement (3CE) team!

Thank you, 3CE, for bringing everyone together and helping build stronger partnerships! 🤝

Here’s to growing, connecting, and making a difference together! 🌱

Not every seizure-like episode is epilepsy.🧠

Functional seizures can look very similar to epileptic seizures but they do not show the abnormal brain activity seen with epilepsy. Because the symptoms can be so similar, some people may spend years being treated for epilepsy before receiving the correct diagnosis.
Research highlighted by Arizona State University is helping us better understand functional seizures and the connection between the brain, emotions, stress, and the body.

Brandon Darling lived his life with remarkable strength, kindness, and resilience while facing epilepsy from a young age. Though his journey was cut far too short, his memory continues to make a difference through the Brandon Darling Epilepsy Scholarship.
This year, we are honored to recognize Jaime Cuesta, a student at Eastern Florida State College with dreams of pursuing video game development at Full Sail University.
With support from Acrisure, Jaime is one step closer to making that dream a reality.
We are grateful to honor Brandon’s memory by helping students like Jaime build the future they envision.
Congratulations, Jaime. We’re so proud to support you on this journey.

After seizures began seemingly out of nowhere, Nathan and his family turned to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where doctors discovered a benign brain tumor was causing his epilepsy. When medications didn’t stop the seizures, a specialized surgical team used advanced brain mapping to safely locate and remove the tumor.

Today, Nathan is back to doing what he loves and simply being a kid. 🏀💜
His story is a powerful reminder that epilepsy can have many different causes, and finding the right diagnosis and treatment can make all the difference.
