BOT fam, meet our first Outstanding Volunteer Award recipient: Daniel Sosa! 🏆

Daniel is the person you’ll find setting up chairs before an event and still there breaking down tables after everyone heads home. He’s been doing that for a couple of years now, no questions asked. 🙌

And when he’s not hauling equipment, he’s an AI Engineer bringing agentic AI into healthcare. He’s mentored so many of our members in AWS and AI, and this year he co-taught our AWS AI/ML cohort, helping folks get certified and land new jobs. 💼✨

Daniel, thank you for showing up, every single time. This one is so well deserved!

Come celebrate Daniel with us at Brilliance in Orbit: The Diamond Decade Gala 💎 on November 14 at Winter Park Events Center. Tickets close Nov 3, so grab yours at the link in bio!

Nine days left to secure your seat at Brilliance in Orbit: The Diamond Decade Gala.

Ticket sales for Building Our Tech’s 10th-anniversary gala close Monday, November 3 at 11:59pm. Because our catering counts and venue capacity are finalized after that date, we are unable to sell tickets past the deadline under any circumstances.

On Saturday, November 14, from 5pm to 10pm at Winter Park Events Center, we’ll celebrate a decade of growing Orlando’s tech community. The evening includes a ch*****ne welcome and cocktail hour, a three-course plated dinner, a keynote from Candice Simmons of Enterprising Black Orlando titled “The Next Frontier: From Opportunity to Ownership,” and BOT’s first-ever awards recognizing the people who helped build this community from the start.

BOT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all proceeds support our operations and programming, including the workshops, cohorts, mentorship, and startup support that help people across Central Florida grow their careers in tech.

✨ Brilliance in Orbit: The Diamond Decade Gala ✨

Why it matters: every ticket and sponsorship goes directly to BOT’s operations and programming. Your support keeps our classes running, our mentors connected, and our community growing for the next 10 years. 💎

📸 Before the cohorts, the workshops, and the 10-year gala, there was Tiffany Spencer! 💎

It’s not a 10-year celebration without honoring our very first Executive Director, so we’re proud to present Tiffany with the Beacon Award! 🎉🏆

From the very start, Tiffany was our source of light:
🏛️ Helped establish BOT as a nonprofit
🤝 Built our community from day one
📚 Created our early programming
💰 Secured our first grants and partnerships

These days she’s the Founder and Executive Director of Tech Forward, the visionary behind Dreamin’ In Color, and a Salesforce MVP Hall of Famer. And she’ll always be part of the BOT family. 💛

Thank you for lighting the way, Tiffany! ✨

Come celebrate her at Brilliance in Orbit on Nov 14.

Ricardo Williams has been showing up for BOT since day one, and he’s got a big question for us 👀

“It has such a success here in Orlando. What could it look like to have BOT scale to Miami and Austin and Chicago and Omaha and Houston and San Francisco?”

For Ricardo, BOT has always been about more than tech talk. It’s about a safe space to share ideas (even when we disagree!) and using this field to help people learn a trade, lift themselves out of poverty, and really advance their lives.

Ricardo will be honored with the Day One Supporter Award at Brilliance in Orbit: The Diamond Decade Gala on Nov 14! 💎 Come celebrate him and 10 years of BOT. Tickets close Nov 3 👉 buildingourtech.org/gala.html

Last but definitely not least in our Trailblazer in Tech Education series: Natesha Mortimer! 💎🎉🏆

Natesha started out quiet in the back of the room. Now? She’s BOT’s resident data mastermind:
🚪 Opened doors and helped out on workshop nights
⚙️ Used data to fix our internal processes
📊 Led our Data Science 101 workshops
🐍 Taught our Python for Beginners cohort
⚡ Created Data in Motion, where teams take a random data set, build a business solution, and pitch it, all in 3 hours!

Data Scientist, founder of Data Swale (say it with us: “Sway-l” 😉), and living proof that your confidence grows when your community does. ✨
