In 2025, Orange County opened a new LYNX bus transfer station in Pine Hills, making it significantly easier to get around the region. The station is a key piece of the countyโ€™s $100 million Accelerated Transportation Safety Program (ATSP), which has boosted LYNX bus frequency by adding weekend routes and adjusting schedules to give both tourists and locals more travel options.

Commissioner Michael Scottโ€™s improvements to Link 37 decreased route times for riders traveling between Pine Hills, MetroWest, Kirkman, Valencia, Universal, Tangelo Park, South Park, and the Florida Mall. Weekday peak service now runs every 20 minutes in each direction, and Sunday service has increased to every 30 minutes. The new transfer station lets Pine Hills residents reach their destinations faster, with fewer stops and no need to travel downtown first. It represents the culmination of more than a decade of collaboration between Orange County, LYNX, and the Florida Department of Transportation to improve access and mobility for the community.๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ’™

Beyond transportation, the ATSP also funds beautification projects, housing initiatives, and economic development efforts across the county.

Neighbors make the neighborhood so letโ€™s celebrate them.

Good Neighbor week is here, from September 28 to October 4: a full week dedicated to the people next door. In 1978, President Carter proclaimed September 28 National Good Neighbor Day. Orlando is making this a citywide celebration of everyday connection because research shows that knowing your neighbors directly improves safety, disaster response, physical health, and mental health.

This week is about celebrating the stories of everyday neighboring, supporting neighbors to connect and build trust and local pride, and helping neighborhoods find new ways to tell their story and create belonging in their local community.

With students back in school, e-bikes and other micromobility devices are more common on our streets than ever. Not all e-bikes are the same! Florida recognizes three classes, with top speeds ranging from 20 to 28+ mph. Know what your family is riding before you hit the road. ๐Ÿšฒ

Orange County will discuss a new micromobility ordinance at the Board of County Commissioners meeting on September 29. Stay tuned for updates, and in the meantime, help keep our streets safe by sharing this info with your family and neighbors. ๐ŸŠ
